Sodium is a major mineral found in Salt
Excessive consumption of Sodium is linked to:
- High blood pressure.
- losing Calcium from the bones, which increases the risk of bone loss and bone fractures.
Key recommendation for healthy people include keeping your daily sodium intake below 2300 mg per day (the same amount in just 1 teaspoon of table salt)
Key recommendation for people with high blood pressure/ Diabetes/ chronic kidney disease/ over age of 50, you should aim for a daily sodium intake below 1500 mg per day

So, here are some suggestions to reduce your consumption of Sodium:
1. Eat fresh, plain frozen, or canned vegetables without added salt.
2. Limit your intake of processed meats, such as cured sausage and most canned meat.
3. When shopping for canned or packaged foods, look for those with labels that say "low sodium".
4. Add little or no salt to foods at home.
5. Limit your intake of salty condiments, such as ketchup, mustard, pickles, soy sauce, and olives.
