Is eating Dates in the late pregnancy can help with the delivery process? Might they help faster a normal spontaneous delivery? Is there any extra benefits for the first time mothers?

A study compared between women who ate 6 dates a day during their last month of pregnancy with women who consumed zero dates. It showed that women who consumed date fruit had significantly better cervical dilation, significantly higher proportion of intact membranes. As well as higher rates of spontaneous labor, with significantly less drug used. Also, labor was shorter (seven hours shorter overall).
For the first time mothers, consumption of date fruit in late pregnancy can help to soften the cervix (opening to the uterus), so that when the contractions starts, it can more easily dilate open. Through a ripe cervix you can push a baby out with like 20 pounds of pressure per square inch, but if the cervix is not soft it can require more like 200 pounds of pressure.

To conclude, date fruit has many benefits on the labor process, so women who are in their late pregnancy might consider eating 6 dates daily, after all 6 dates is doable and a great addition to your diet.
