Looks like we can say that this sentence is scientifically proven from recent researches and studies which are concerned about microbiome*
What do we mean by this?
There is a bacteria living in our gut and this bacteria affects how we experience a meal… there are two main types in our gut:
1. The good bacteria which is feed on fruits, vegetables, grains and beans.
2. The bad bacteria which is feed on meat, seafood, eggs, dairy, fast and gunk food. This type of bacteria contributes to diseases such as CVDs.

Most recent researches recommend that we change the way we eat in order to increase the number of the good bacteria in our gut. Which mean we should change our food to be more plant based (more vegetables, fruits and grains) and not exceeding our recommendation with protein and fat servings.
Eventually, the more we consume plant based food the more we increase the good bacteria that is feed on it and the more we limit and not exceed our needs of animal source foods the more we limit the growth of the bad bacteria in our gut.
*The microbes that we share our body with.
